Weekly Update 16 October

A message from Antonia Wilson...
The Pilgrimage of Prayer
What a delight for us at Hinchley Wood to host the first POP since March.  There were four of us in St. Christopher’s Church and over 30 members from across the diocese on zoom.  We could ‘see’ you all.
We sent out Orders of Service to everyone so I hope those who were unable to join us felt included too.
It was lovely to welcome everyone from inside a church.  The Cathedral is open and very willing to welcome us back for our monthly service but unfortunately there is no internet signal in the Lady Chapel to enable us to include you all.  We will take it month by month but would love as many members as possible to join us monthly.
Epsom deanery are planning to have local members in church and to zoom their service for others to join.  11am on Tuesday 3rd November – details will be sent out nearer the time.
There is so much going on with each of you, with branches and local groups as well as with Mothers’ Union centrally this year.    Obviously it has been very tough year financially but members have been very active and adapted amazingly to the challenges, supporting not just one another but many in their communities.  We are collating details from around our diocese as it would be good to share locally as well as more widely all that members have done.

Subscriptions and magazines
Along with all Diocesan Presidents I have been involved with meetings and decisions taken centrally about the best way forward for the movement.  You will hear shortly of the change to include the MU magazine for ALL members, a change I have been championing for several years.  It is so important that every member knows what is going on across the whole membership.
Details of the changes and subscription will be sent out shortly so please look out for this and encourage current members as well as friends, family, neighbours and fellow members of your congregations to join us and support our local and international work.

Hold the date - Christingle service
The Children's Society, supported by MU in Guildford Diocese, will be holding a Christingle service at Guildford Cathedral on 31st January 2021.
Do put this in your diary and support this event if you can.
