Take Time

I was given a very useful poem when I consulted a Christian doctor in Beirut. It was given to me when I was a fit young man, but needed to be a more patient one. The lessons that we learn while growing up do not sometimes manifest themselves until much later in life. So when I thought of the theme for this edition of the Magazine, I thought about the importance of Time. It is a great healer- as they say. But it is also the ingredient needed for seeds to become fully mature.

In the world of nature we see this in the seasons; in the world of human relationships we see it in the transition from child to adolescent to adult. In our very busy world we need to remind ourselves of the importance of Time in looking at the time it takes for projects to become reality. It is a lesson about the need for patience, whenever that virtue may be needed; it is the secret of how seeds grow to maturity.

Take time to laugh
It is the music of the soul.

Take time to think
It is the source of power.

Take time to play
It is the source of perpetual youth.

Take time to read
It is the fountain of wisdom.

Take time to pray
It is the greatest power on earth.

Take time to love and be loved
It is a God-given privilege.

Take time to be friendly
It is the road to happiness

Take time to give
It is too short a day to be selfish

Take time to work
It is the price of success.
