MU on the Heath is one of the newer Mothers’ Union branches founded in 2007. We are based at the Church on the Heath, Elvetham Heath, Fleet which is an ecumenical church where the Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists and United Reformers have come together to worship and work as one. We are blessed with a modern, versatile church building which is built in the middle of the community of Elvetham Heath.
As a branch from our start we have focused on projects. Bumps and Babies was our original project, a safe, welcoming regular drop-in group for new mothers/carers and their babies. Hundreds of mothers and babies have passed through this group. The project has now been taken on by the church, but it’s leaders are still MU members. The same is true of Noah’s Ark, our toddler group. Both groups meet on Monday mornings in term time.
‘Meals and squeals’ is our project to provide meals to families with a new baby.
Two of our members are trained parenting facilitators and run various parenting courses from time to time. (Check the church website for details of any forthcoming courses) We run ‘Time out for Parents courses’, Care for the Family material and ‘Parenting for Faith courses’, BRF material.
Our branch has links with the local Life House and supports the young parents in various ways including providing cooking sessions.
We have occasional meetings.
We enjoy occasional socials. Recently we had a garden birthday tea party for our very first nonagenarian member.
